Okay, so I've decided and am officially saying I think this place is way too quiet. Someone talk about something - anything (within reason). How has everyone been? What's been going on? Has the sky decided to quit being blue without me noticing it while I've been hiding in my room lately?

Oh my... urbandictionary.com is worth their time deleting things? Honestly, I'm not sure this guy should have MCP controls...

So background: Someone had said something about "lulx" and the assumption was that it was a typo of "lulz" and thus a mistake. I thought this too (and it probably was) but I glanced over at urbandictionary.com and found lulx there. So, instead of commenting on the probable typo, I responded to someone who did by pointing out that I had found it on urban dictionary and linking to the word. I came back today to find the post removed and a comment about language rules and that the "offending post" was hidden. After a minute or so of "WTF?" I replied:

Really?! Offending? Breaking language rules? Please by ALL means tell me, how in the world a link to an online dictionary (even if it's a slang/"urban"/whatever dictionary) defining a word that was already used is offensive. Furthermore, could someone do me the honor of pointing to the actual "language rules" of which keep being referred. But is lulx inappropriate? Well, must not have been - it's left elsewhere. Or "urban dictionary"? Or anything else said? Certainly none of it was "abusive, hateful, harassing" or "threatening" and it wasn't at all sexual. I didn't see anything stating that links have to follow the same rules, either...so even if there was something on the page I don't see a direct rule against it.

But by all means, tell me how that was offensive so I can--avoid it in the future?

My 12-year-old sister would like to know as well.

And just for the record, yes my 12-year-old sister really did want to know what was wrong with that. She's somewhat religious, too...yet saw no problem with my post or the link. Hmm.

LOL! Seriously? If that post was considered worth a warning my response would have been much more than it was (granted it would have been private instead, but still). Bear in mind I have no personal issue with the staff member in question (I don't even really know him) when I say this...I think he needs removed (well, his mod controls at least). Deleting (or even unapproving) a post because someone else quoted off something from the link? For that matter, I don't see what's so bad about this definition anyway. I can see an issue someone could have with the examples (not funny, IMO...especially the jackass laughing at suicide), but not where it's bad enough to remove the post linking to it (or even the link) on a normal website. Even if it WAS worth something, why not just edit the link out and put "link removed" or something? Whatever, it's just deleted content...just it's stupidly deleted content.

No surprise, though...If I understand right, it's the same one who caused this. He also closed this, but I was grateful for that one given the kind of responses I kept getting from people who were not staff members anyway.

i know, the staff there are terrible. They can't do their job in the slightest sense of the word.

Bit of a gamer, are you? If you check out my other sites, you might want to try out the Konami code on them (haven't implemented it here though, at least not yet).
